      10 Comparing Have a scale on the board. Most left is "not ...", the middle is "..." and to the right is "more.../...-er"
      List different adjectives
      Small
      Big
      nice
      expensive
      cheap
      beautiful
      good
      bad

      ask students when do they use -er and when do they know to use more?
      5 Practice Comparing sizes, show two books of different sizes, ask ss to make comparisons. Model a sentence "This book is ...er than this book."
      Do same for plural sentence "These books are bigger than that book."
      practice fill in blank sentences on the board:
      She....................(nice) my mother.
      My mother...................(beautiful) Sarah.
      These pants ......... (expensive) those pants.
      This ring ......... (cheap) that ring.
      etc.
      15 Controlled practice with comparatives Comparative handout, depending on level of ss go through as class if most are struggling, or allow them to do individually then compare together.
      For time, may ask to do first few of each section and the rest for homework.
      5 Family vocabulary Give handout of Mikes family and complete together as a class
      on board explain: siblings, spouse, parents, grandparents
      10 Comparing family members List adjectives for family members:
      old
      young
      intelligent
      shy
      sensitive
      tall
      short
      funny

      ss must make sentences about their family members, eg:
      My mother is older than my father.

      Write your own family tree, write one sentence for each family member comparing them to someone else.
